Drawing a flag in photoshop

I once needed flag teaser for one website, but couldn’t find anything good in internet, the best way to do is draw from photo. Will tke 30 min. Ok, first let’s find a good photo.

No, position is not good

Not bad, but flag is too light, don’t see the shadows

NO!too smal

tOO BIG!!

Hmmm, almost good, if only the fabric wasn’t turning around

GOTCHA! Fabric very good, shadows, but damn it’s cut off from left corner!
Oh well, we can do the missed part

1) Let’s start, draw a full shape with pen tool

2) We can see the flag have 3 shapes, i made a stroke with different colours to see

3) Make those shapes with pen tool again, they can be whatever clour you want for the first time, i made them grey tones to see the differens

4) Now when we see it’s ok, we gotta do all shapes white colour and rasterize layers so we will be able to draw shadows on them

don forget to lock:

5) Do shadows according to photo with soft grey brush

6) we must add the picture on it, in my situation i want race flag..but first. i have to see the directions wo i can warp the picture

7) Cool, now to draw the black rectangles

Let’s warp it to directions!

9) Cut not needed part

10) Do the same with the rest of parts

11) Let’s make oll blak rectangles merged with one layers. and play with blending options
